The Cape May County Public Library is delighted to announce the return of our annual One Book, One Cape May community initiative. One Book, One Cape May is a countywide literary event that encourages members of the Cape May County community to celebrate the same author at the same time, while engaging with events throughout the county library system that support the central themes of their work. By building bridges between communities and generations through reading, we hope to help promote reading as a lifelong pursuit and to work toward building a community that celebrates literacy together.
Our fourth annual One Book, One Cape May initiative will take place at every Cape May County Public Library branch during May 2018. This year’s One Book bestselling author is Mary Kay Andrews. Mary Kay Andrews is the New York Times bestselling author of 24 novels including The Weekenders, Beach Town, Ladies Night, Summer Rental, and The Beach House Cookbook.
Mary Kay Andrews, the pen name of Kathy Hogan Trocheck, is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida. She received a B.A. in journalism from The University of Georgia and was a newspaper reporter for 14 years. In 1991, she changed lanes and started writing fiction, publishing Every Crooked Nanny in 1992. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Tom Trocheck, with whom she has a 40-year (and counting) collaboration yielding two grown children, two adorable grandchildren and countless memorable kitchen experiences.
Our events department is planning a rich array of thematic events and activities throughout the month of May. Designed to highlight these themes, May’s programs will include art classes, themed cooking demonstrations, and much more, bringing Mary Kay Andrews’s works to life!
Multiple copies of Mary Kay Andrews’s books, including audio and large print, will be available at our branches, and the eBook options will be available via Overdrive online.
Please join us in celebrating Mary Kay Andrews this spring, and visit the library to enjoy our many exciting One Book, One Cape May programs!
