Come and meet the artists! Join us this summer while we host local artists Paige Cunningham, Brendan Schaffer, and Carianne Slotterback. Learn about how they got started, their art process, and their inspirations. Each artist will have a chance to talk about themselves and their work. After the presentation the artists will be available to answer any questions.

Paige Cunningham lives in West Cape May and is a self-taught artist dabbling in mixed media art.  She creates whimsical pictures of animals and people, using watercolors, pastels' and pen and ink.  In the 17 years she’s lived in NJ, she has taught art classes to locals and visitors ages 2 – 102.   Paige has also published two children’s books, Cape May A to Z and Nighttime on the Beach.

Brendan Schaffer is an advanced amateur sand and snow sculptor from New Jersey.  He has frequently visited the beautiful beaches of New Jersey and Florida's Gulf Coast, always sculpting sand when he gets the time and has been working with snow in his parent's front yard for about 5 years now.  Brendan is inspired by the natural world and it shows in his art, often depicting creatures he sees on his adventures.  Brendan was recently featured on the Travel Channel's "Best in Snow" for a fire breathing dragon sculpture he made with his father and brothers.  Working with sand and snow is very different but each offers its own challenges and rewards!

Carianne Slotterback's appreciation and love of photography began in 1996 when she registered for a basic B&W class her second semester of college. She had never used a SLR before and knew nothing about photography. She didn’t even like taking pictures! To this day Carianne still does not know why she ever signed up for the class, but quickly fell in love with photography & it has been a part of her life ever since.  After that first class, Carianne went on to take advanced B&W, color, and Photoshop classes.

Her favorite photography genres include:  nature, abstract, macro, landscape, floral, wildlife, texture & pattern, fine-art, fire, night time, astrophotography, underwater, slow motion, & still life photography.  About 99% of all of Carianne's photos are nature-oriented, as nature has always been a huge part of her life, it is most often reflected in the art & designs she creates.
